Spiral Steel Pipe Manufacturing Process
2022-05-07
The manufacturing process of spiral welded steel pipe involves extrusion forming under ambient temperature conditions, using coiled strip steel as the raw material and employing an automated double-wire, double-sided submerged-arc welding process to produce spiral-seam steel pipes.
1. The raw materials for spiral steel pipes—welding wire, steel strip coils, and flux—are all subjected to comprehensive and rigorous physicochemical testing prior to use.
2. Double-wire or single-wire submerged arc welding is employed, with the steel strip ends butted together; after rolling into a steel pipe, automatic submerged arc welding is used for weld repair.
3. Prior to forming, the strip steel undergoes edge trimming, leveling, edge planing, preliminary edge bending, and surface cleaning and conveying.
4. To ensure smooth strip steel conveyance, an electrical contact pressure gauge is used to regulate the pressure of the lowering hydraulic cylinders on both sides of the conveyor.
5. Spiral steel pipes are manufactured using either internal‑control or external‑control roller forming.
